To be able to cook for more than 50 people, another technique is more appropriate. A reflector made of many mirrors focuses the sunlight on a small area inside the kitchen. Directly behind the focus is the cooking place, where a 30 to 100 litre pot is heated. Because of high temperatures, large quantities of food can be cooked quite fast. For kitchens feeding over 1000 people, steam can be produced to cook the food. The reflectors (7mē and 11 mē) stand outside the kitchen. With the help of a tracking mechanism, the reflector follows the position of the sun. The material needed is available in easily. Since 1987, over 250 reflectors have been built world-wide. In India, in Kenya and the Sudan, independent production places exist. With his method, one can cook staying inside the kitchen and cook as fast as a normal stove. Methods of storing heat for use during night and early morning are under development. |
