The Need

Engine driven vehicles are a source of air pollution in towns and cities. The exhaust gases affect our health and do extensive damage to crops, vegetation and wildlife. Motor vehicles are also a source of water pollution. Oil and tire particles from the roads are washed into our streams and waterways, damaging aquatic life and water quality.Noise pollution from automotive traffic adds stress to our lives.

The most popular vehicle in the world today is a bicycle. Far more people use a bicycle than a car. In western countries, the bicycle is mainly for exercise. While in developing countries it is a real means of transport.

The Answer

Rashron Energy & Auto have developed a rechargeable battery powered electric bicycle and also a kit for fitment on existing bicycles. A 3 wheeled model and a kit for the tricycles for the physically impaired is also available. The power of the drive is just enough to go smoothly at normal cycling speeds. By assisting the system with some amount of pedalling, its range is enhanced on each battery charge. The re-chargeable battery, which is easy to remove for charging, lasts for more than a year. A special battery charger is also developed.

‘ecoLove ‘ as it is called, will soon be available all over the country. The company has also developed 3-wheel version with good suspension on all wheels for those who do not wish to use 2-wheeled vehicles.

On ecoLove you can go farther than a normal bicycle. It can be quickly recharged, or exchange batteries instantly with charged ones. The ecoLove will be preferred by millions. It is silent, does not stink or vibrate, is affordable and reliable.

Seniors wanting to go outdoors will like this very much. Especially the three wheeled version.

Commuters, baffled with traffic conditions, and rising cost of vehicle usage, will find ecoLove a very sensible choice. An important use is police. A jawan on an Electric Bike can reach first, beating normal bicycles and jeeps in traffic. Ideal for towns, resorts, exercising, commercial uses and a logical transportation for people.

Maintenance & fuel costs are minimal. So ecoLove saves money. Everyone benefits due to efficient and clean transportation. Immense social, economic and environmental benefits by reducing petroleum dependence, pollution, and greenhouse effects.

One can say that electric vehicles shift the pollution from city to power stations unless the charging is done by wind or solar. But remember that for one litre of fuel used at the power station, an electric bike travels more than 300 kms.

Cleaner air prevents respiratory diseases and health care costs. For every 1000 kms an electric bike is used in place of a car, an average of 60 litres of fuel is saved and that much pollution is prevented. www.ecozen.com has more information.

The Trike

The 3 wheeled version has a comfortable seat with adjustable handlebars to let you ride in a comfortable position and carry some luggage.

A soft suspension on all three wheels soaks up the road jerks like never before available on this kind of vehicles. Power assisted range is upto 20 kms (upto 40 km or more with a larger battery that is optional) on a single charge with variable speed upto 15 km/h. Ideal for many business purposes like parcel delivery and site use like airports, large hospitals, factories and other campuses.

Easy to balance without feet support so very convenient at traffic lights.

Safe for taking a child to school because of three wheels and slow speed.

No balancing problem. Even those who never used a bicycle before can ride.

No pulling on stand every time you stop.

Possible to have weather protection with a light fabric top and curtains.

How it works

Have you heard of hybrid vehicles? They have a combustion engine plus an electric drive. For bursts of power like accelerating and hill climbing, they use both systems. For maximum efficiency they use electric power only.

The ecoLove has similar design assets. It combines the high torque, low speed human engine with a low torque, high efficiency electric motor. The result is an astonishingly efficient machine that helps to reduce pedalling fatigue. The electric motor allows the human engine to rest during periods of constant speed.

An Advanced Rear-Wheel Drive.

Many electric bicycles drive the wheel with a crude friction roller rubbing against the tire. The ecoLove's has a second chain to power the rear wheel. With this secure chain and toothed belt system, there's no slippage found on friction-drive electric bikes, especially in wet conditions.

The electricity for charging is the fuel and costs about 0.06 Rupee per km. The charger works on 230 VAC and charges in six hours or less. A twist grip or a small lever controls the power to the electric motor with an electronic controller. The speed can be regulated as required. The maintenance of ecoLove is similar to that of normal bicycles with some attention to the battery.

Easier to ride, safer, more versatile and less expensive than the cheapest moped. Battery recharges in 6 hours and lasts for a long time. The battery is provided with a clamp with a handle making it easy to remove and carry.

Solar Cookers

Two other sources of pollution are industries and cooking fuel. Solar energy is the least polluting and most inexaustable of all energy sources. We are only beginning to realize its potential. While it was always been available to us, we have not used it effectively. Mainly because getting a reliable energy supply from the Sun can be a difficult looking task. But, not all solar systems are difficult to build or use.

The company has developed Solar Cookers with parabolic concentrator design and Solar Steam Generators for reducing fuel consumption in industries like paper mills, hotels, restaurants and power houses. While the general population is unable to do anything about pollution caused by industries in absence of Government support, electrical bicycle and solar cooker can be a great tool in their hands to reduce pollution around them. The solar steam generation can be very effective in the hands of many industries to reduce pollution caused by coal and other fuels for their steam requirement.
